You can learn the basics of home food preservation methods.Through a series of two classes, learn the ins and outs of jams and jellies,pickling, water bath canning, pressure canning, freezing, and dehydrating. These introductory classes teach the techniques behind the different preservation processes and are REQUIRED before taking the hands-on class.
The registration fee is $20 (nonrefundable; check or money order ONLY, made payable to Robeson County Cooperative Extension) for both 101classes and covers food preservation handouts and a Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving.The registration form and fee must be received at the Extension Center, in person or by mail, NO LATER THAN APRIL 23. Registration and fee mailed to Cooperative Extension, P. O. Box 2280, Lumberton, N.C. 28359.

Pressure Canning
Thursday, July 26, 5:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Deadline to register is July 23.
Overcome the fear of home canning. There is no registration fee, but please call at least three days prior to the class to secure a spot and allow time to purchase necessary supplies. There is no charge for the hands-on classes.
The minimum number of participants needed to hold each class(101 and hands-on) is five (maximum of 20); less than five will result in the cancellation of the class. Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made to Cooperative Extension by calling 910-671-3276 no later than five business days prior to the event.
