The NC Blueberry Festival is back after two years of covid delays. Saturday, June 18, 2022!!

As part of this year’s festival, N.C. Cooperative Extension  – Pender County, will be holding FREE!!! bus tours to the NCSU Horticulture Crops Research Farm in Castle Hayne, NC. Buses will leave the front parking lot of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Center in Pender County. The address is 801 S. Walker Street, Burgaw, NC. Tickets are free but are available on Eventbrite and are required to make sure there is space on each bus.

Come learn about how blueberries are grown, how varieties are developed and about the work that is being done to produce blueberries with more antioxidents, better nutrition value, better flavor, and how the blueberries are mechanically harvested.

This is a fast, paced 1 hour tour of the research that goes on behind the blueberries grown here in North Carolina and get you back to Burgaw in plenty of time to enjoy the fun, food and festivities at the festival.
