The 2022 February Fundraiser

Dear all,

My group and I would like to thank all of you for the years of continuous trust in our work and services. Your support means a lot to all of us. We are a small, but dedicated group of professionals and students. Every single day, our team makes sure that we provide the best strawberry information and the most important research to strawberry growers in North Carolina and beyond. I would like to give just a few examples of our services to the industry:

  • Frost and freeze advisories that help you to make the best decisions on your farm.

  • Year-round strawberry training opportunities.

  • Cultivar performance evaluations and frequent updates.

  • Updated production guidelines.

History

We started in NC just under five years ago. Ever since, a large portion of our work is strawberry production and scientific research. Our team works constantly to improve solutions that are beneficial to every strawberry grower. For example, our leadership led a nationwide coalition working on solutions to develop cleaner transplants and help the entire industry, from nursery to grower. We are also investigating strawberry cultivars every year to enhance NC strawberry production long-term. The students in our team do not just learn in the classroom, but build independence, initiative, and responsibility through our work with the industry and all of you.

Much of what I described above is possible because of donors. Donations make about 10% of our budget, and are an essential part of our every day work. They are used to support our education, research, and extension activities in many ways. For a more in-depth look at each of these activities, please take a look at our donation drive newsletter attached to this email. Every donated dollar will directly help support student travel and fees. It will help us to keep our weather advisories going, our cars serviced, and our bills paid.

Make a Donation

We would be honored to have your support and respectfully submit this proposal for a gift to the Horticultural Science Enrichment Fund. If you feel our work is worth something to you, now is the time to support us. Your donation will be put to a good cause, no matter how small or large. It would make all the difference to us, and it is essential to help us grow and continue to do good work.

Please follow the link above or dive into our Information Brochure if you want to learn more or donate via check.

On behalf of my entire team, I thank you for taking the time to read this. We all hope to continue building on our work and to provide the best possible service to you in the future.

Please feel free to reach out to me any time if you have questions,

Sincerely,

Mark Hoffmann
